HOW TECHONIC PLATES MOVE

🌍 What Are Tectonic Plates? Tectonic plates are massive slabs of Earth's lithosphere (the rigid outer layer of the Earth) that fit together like a puzzle and float on the semi-fluid asthenosphere beneath them. There are about 15 major plates, including the Pacific Plate, North American Plate, Eurasian Plate, etc. 🔄 How Do Tectonic Plates Move? Tectonic plates move slowly — usually just a few centimeters per year — due to convection currents in the hot, flowing mantle beneath them. These movements shape Earth's surface over time. ⚙️ Types of Plate Boundaries and What Happens There Convergent Boundaries (Plates move toward each other) One plate may subduct (sink) beneath the other. Creates mountains, deep ocean trenches, and volcanoes. 🌋 Example: The Andes Mountains, the Himalayas Divergent Boundaries (Plates move apart) Magma rises to fill the gap, forming new crust. Found at mid-ocean ridges or rift valleys. 🌊 Example: Mid-Atlantic Ridge, East African Rift Transf...

HOW EARTHQUAKES FORM

Image
Earthquakes are formed when rocks in the Earth’s crust suddenly break or slip along a fault line, releasing a burst of energy. This energy travels through the ground as seismic waves, which we feel as shaking. 🌍 Step-by-Step: How Earthquakes Happen 1. Tectonic Plates Are Always Moving Earth’s surface is made of massive pieces called tectonic plates. These plates move slowly but constantly, pressing against, pulling away, or sliding past each other. 2. Stress Builds Up As the plates move, they sometimes get stuck along faults (cracks in Earth’s crust). When they can’t move freely, stress builds up over time. 3. Sudden Release = Earthquake Eventually, the stress becomes too great. The rocks snap or slip suddenly, releasing energy. This energy radiates out from the focus (the exact point underground where the break happened). 4. Seismic Waves Shake the Ground These waves travel through the Earth, causing the shaking we feel. The epicenter is the point directly above the focus on...

HOW THE BRAIN WORKS

The brain is one of the most complex and powerful organs in the human body. Here's a clear and simple breakdown of how the brain works: 🧠 Overview: What Is the Brain? The brain is the control center of your body. It: Processes information from your senses Controls movement Manages thoughts, emotions, memories, and behavior Keeps your body systems running (like heart rate, breathing, digestion) 🧩 Main Parts of the Brain and What They Do 1. Cerebrum (largest part) Divided into left and right hemispheres Controls thinking, memory, emotions, decision-making, and voluntary movement Has 4 main lobes: Frontal lobe: Thinking, planning, movement, speech Parietal lobe: Touch, spatial awareness Temporal lobe: Hearing, language, memory Occipital lobe: Vision 2. Cerebellum Located under the cerebrum Coordinates balance and movement 3. Brainstem Connects the brain to the spinal cord Controls automatic functions like breathing, heartbeat, and digestion ⚡️ How It Works: Communic...
